| a) Applicants wish to attend a conference for the first
time;
b) Applicants have an abstract and paper accepted;
c) Only one grant available per year for attending a conference.
If presenting at conference, more than one application will be considered.
d) The cheapest travel ticket and accommodation up to £100
per night will be considered. Expenses for attendance at the BASW
RSIG meetings will be paid for the night prior to the meeting and
only considered when necessary to facilitate attendance at the meeting;
e) Applicants should have approached their own social services
department or renal unit for funding initially. It should be noted
that drug companies are often willing to fund social workers. The
Scholarship Fund should be an additional access to funding and not
the sole one;
f) Mileage will be granted at 45p per mile and paid up to the cost
of the cheapest alternative ticket;
g) Grants are also available for fees towards training courses
(Degree, Family Therapy, Counselling and/or other work related topics).
Applicants must have been working in the renal field for a minimum
of 2 years to apply for such funding for prolonged courses;
h) A maximum grant per person over one year will be £1000.
Any request over this amount will be considered by the officers
of the group in exceptional circumstances and only if sufficient
funds are available.
i) A written report must be sent to the Elizabeth Ward Scholarship
Fund Administrator by the recipient of the grant following its use.
